Introductionary workshop to the art of Burlesque by Maya Full Power
(suitable for all levels and dance backgrounds)

Burlesque is a style of performance that focuses on expression, posture and attitude. It uses techniques of tease and comedy to build more personal contact with the audience. Burlesque dance is usually very sensual, passionate and classy. 

This workshop will provide an in depth introduction to the history of Burlesque, techniques on stage and work with props.
We will focus on posture and expression as well as dance technique.

What to wear:

Comfortable tight clothes, that will enable out to dance and make u feel good. 
Bring also shoes on heals and a long scarf to play with.

What to bring:

water, towel, healthy snacks

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Petra Skodova/ Maya Full Power

Maya Full Power is a Tribal Fusion Bellydance, Burlesque & Circus Artist from Czech Republic. She has been performing and teaching internationally for the past 10 years. Petra worked with a modern circus company in Ireland for 5 years, co-founded Shaktimaya Bellydance company and now works in India & internationally as a freelance performance artist, teacher and a model under a stage name Maya Full Power. 

Petra has studied modern dance since chilhdhood and at the age of 17 began to study bellydance. She is Zoe Jakes’s student and big fan, but also has studied with Sharon Kihara, Olivia Kissel, Jill Parker, Colleena Shakti, Mira Betz and Anasma. 

Her Burlesque passion began in Ireland, where she got inspired by the amazing Bella A Gogo, started to regularly perform at Boutique Burlesque events and began to infuse Burlesque into her circus performances. Passe Partout Circus Company which she was a part of than toured different festivals of Ireland with their Burlesque Cabaret show and "Embrace the Fire" show for couple of years.

She believes that yoga, dance and comedy is the perfect combination to help women break free from the trap of their social and cultural conditioning and therefore she continues to share her love through workshops.
