The one-day hands-on workshop is intended to train interested people in the making of three bamboo musical instruments: Xylophone, Rain Maker & Benzi. These are items which are traditionally used in different places but not seriously introduced in orchestras or in musical performances.

One of the instruments, the Rain Maker was incorporated into the musical orchestra of a bamboo group in Kerala. The Xylophone & Benzi are yet to make its debut in programmes. The Rain Maker produces the sound of rain or flowing water while the Benzi acts like a flute when swung.
