Day 1: The trains from Delhi usually reaches Udaipur by 7:30am and the flights also start to land around the same time. Depending on how you plan to come your arrival time will be different. Our target will be to assemble by 9am at the Devraj Niwas Heritage Haveli at Laal ghat. We will be staying at this heritage haveli during our stay. After freshening up we leave for a quick breakfast in the market area. We will fill our bellies with Pyaz Kachories and Poha & Lassis to get ready for the day.
We will then leave on foot, reach the centre of the town and visit Jagdish Temple. After saying our very quick hellos to Lord Vishnu we will then make our way towards the famous City Palace. They say even if you run your way across the palace, it would take you a good 2 hours to cover the place (and I believe them). It is an amazing exhibition of Rajputana heritage. After getting free from the Palace we would go for lunch aka our food adventure). For lunch, there is a place called Natraj that serves a thali of Marwari food for 150 Rs.
Sunset is my favourite time of the day in Udaipur. Fortunately, there are so many places to enjoy a perfect sunset, unfortunately we only have one sunset in Udaipur with us. So we would choose on the spot if we want to enjoy it from a spot in the middle of the lake Pichola (700Rs ticket for this one as for this the boat takes people to a palace in the lake) or from the FatehSagar lake or from DoodhTalai park.
We would then move to the Bagore ki Haveli which is right next to the place we would be staying at. This is an 18th century Haveli where we would enjoy the amazing cultural festival. This shows timings are 7pm-8pm. Once we are don, here we would love to take you out for dinner. We will call it a night after that.
Day 2: After having breakfast, we would leave for the great wall of India. The Kumbhal Garh fort, this is about 90Km away from Udaipur. Not many people know it but Kumbalgarh fort has the second longest wall in the world. We would start from Udaipur at 10am and would reach the place in 2-2.5 hrs. We would spend most of our day exploring this beautiful fort full of temple ruins, forest and stories. Every evening the entire fort is lit by lights.
In the evening, we will come back to enjoy a rooftop dinner somewhere near the hotel. Udaipur has this culture of rooftop restaurants, where in the peak season they are jam packed. After dinner we will rest for the night, but as the history shows monkey nights are generally not complete without a night full of chit chats and stories.
Day 3: As this will be the last day in Udaipur, we will spend most of the day just relaxing. We will take an early morning stroll to the streets of Udaipur and then visit some of the ghats around lakes. Spend time in the german bakeries and during the afternoon, after checkout, we will go and explore the Karni Mata temple which require a cable car ride to the top and presents a stunning view of the entire city. Most trains leave from Udaipur at around 5:30 pm. So at the end, we would say our good byes with promise to meet again. We will have stories to tell and selfies to share :).
Honestly you could stay in Udaipur for a month and it would not be enough. We have no doubts that you will be visiting this place again some day.
