Supreme Court’s Justice Dhananjaya Chandrachud to deliver a lecture on ‘Imagining Freedom Through Art’ at JSW Group’s Literature Live! Independence Lecture on August 17^th

 

 

Mumbai, August 14, 2019: Justice Dhananjaya Chandrachud, Judge of Supreme Court will deliver a lecture on ‘Imagining Freedom Through Art’ at this year’s Independence Lecture by JSW Group’s Literature Live!

 

Justice Chandrachud is an alumnus of St Stephen's College, Delhi University and Harvard University where he obtained a Doctorate in Judicial Sciences. He is known for his landmark judgements, including upholding the right to privacy as a fundamental right, ruling Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code regarding "unnatural sex" as unconstitutional and Section 497 regarding adultery as archaic and arbitrary. He has also given notable dissenting opinions in the Aadhar case.  

 

After his lecture, Justice Chandrachud will be in conversation with Zia Mody, one of India's foremost corporate lawyers. Zia is the Founding Partner of AZB & Partners and is often featured in "Most Powerful Women" lists.
