"ASME NIT Rourkela Chapter "(registered  under Technical Society ,SAC ,NIT Rourkela) has been selected to host the zonal level ASME SLDC(Students Led Design Conference) for Zone 4 comprising of Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand,Chattisgarh,West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and other North Eastern States. Students Led Design Conference is a symposium  along with a platform to showcase one's abilities and a chance to bring into action all the ideas as well as professional development seminars where students of all engineering disciplines can meet and hear the industry experts, network and become visible to the industry representatives. ASME NIT Rourkela Chapter would be organising the maiden SLDC this year .The modules @ SLDC includes:
 
1.Student Design Challenge (SDC): The Student Design Challenge involves robotics. The problem statement of the SDC of SLDC is based on the topic:“Robots for Relief”. 
2.Invention Showcase: This event features the identification of a real time problem faced by the industries and edifying an appropriate solution to be  presented in front of a panel of experts. Students are encouraged to team up with students of other disciplines. The aim is to help students recognise the effect of the principles of one discipline on the other and enhance the team building skills & promote multi-disciplinary engineering.
3.Presentation Competitions: Presentation Competition puts great emphasis on the ability of participants to deliver clear, concise and effective presentations individually to an audience, particularly pertaining to some scope in which an engineer is or should be involved in the following:
a.Oral Presentation
b.Video Presentation
c.Technical Web Page Competition
d.Poster Competition
4.Arrow: Using simple principles of physics and aerodynamics, a team has to design and fabricate a Crossbow along with three arrows with the materials provided by the organizers and then shoot in two rounds based on which the winner would be decided.
5.Student Training Conference and Guest Lectures
The best would be recognized in each event and would be awarded with prize money over and above the certificate and trophy.If you have the talent, this your platform.
