The Pushkar Camel Fair is a fascinating spectacle that occurs once in a year in the small town of Pushkar, Rajasthan. It is a visitor’s finest opportunity to experience rural india in its organic form, you can interact with villagers that have never seen a tourist in their lives and have travelled for weeks to bring their cattle to the fair.
The Pushkar Camel Fair is scheduled between late October and early November (determined by the lunar calendar), and villagers bring about 50000 cattle (majority of them camels, but also a lot of horses) to trade and sell.
The Pushkar Camel Festival is unarguably the most colourful gathering of humanity & livestock on this planet, and attracts large number of international & Indian tourists. The Rajasthan government hosts a number of ethnic cultural events (such as Rajasthani dances) to coincide with the fair. The Tour is a photographer's paradise offering innumerable opportunities to capture virgin lifestyle images unchanged for centuries
