About Shakuntalam
Shakuntalam started as a small institution in Delhi about 32 years ago, with the inspiring and laudable aim of imbuing the young children with the spirit of dance as an art form. It has now emerged as an artistic landmark in the cultural landscape of Delhi and Mumbai. Rekha Chowdhary, its founder, has trained over a 1,000 students in Bharatanatyam and folk dances. The themes that Rekha chooses are diverse, spanning the entire spectrum from the traditional and the classical to the abstract and the emotional. What is significant is that each of these performances bears testimony to a rare union of the best of choreography and the most sensitive and delicate of dancing.
