Bhavana Reddy’s First-Ever
Portrayal As Golden Swan In Mudra Festival 2016
Mumbai:
Bhavana
Reddy is geared up for her graceful entry as a golden swan in Mudra Festival
2016 on 21st April at NCPA, Mumbai. In sync to this year’s theme,
“Animal symbolism in Indian mythology”, Kuchipudi maestros Radha Raja Reddy
have devised a production “Hamsoham”, based on the mythical love story of
Princess Damyanti & King Nala from the epic, Mahabharata. The evening is
expecting to attract the connoisseurs of Indian classical dance forms from all
around.

The choreography,
“Hamsoham- Swan as a Soul” is inspired by a beautiful narrative from
Mahabharata available in Sanskrit and Telugu language, where Bhavana Reddy
plays a golden swan named ‘Hamsa’, an embodiment of Shiv Shakti. With the
rhythmic syllables from Granthas, the talented artiste will create the
different dialogues, gestures and body movements depicting the interaction of
the swan with King Nala and Princess Damyanti leading to their romantic union. Infused
with beauty and tenderness, the dancer in her inimitable style is bound to
leave an indelible impression on the minds of the audience.
“Creating
the whole choreography, ‘Hamsoham’ for Mudra Festival wasn’t an easy task. It
took a lot of research and hard work, but my daughter Bhavana, being extremely graceful
and delicate, has pulled off the act amazingly”, speaks Padma Bhushan Dr. Raja
Reddy on the production. Also, the cheerful artiste, Bhavana Reddy is thrilled
to play a swan as she says, “Mudra Festival is a great line up of dancers and I
am honoured to be a part of it”. Catch the fete on 21st April
2016, 7 PM onwards at NCPA, Mumbai.
