About the talk:
#Crowdfunding as a concept is important in #cultural ecosystems, such as#museums, heritage spaces and organisations, #art galleries, and other associated #institutions and individuals. Its significance lies not only in its utility as a #fundraising tool, but also in marketing, and in highlighting and raising awareness around relevant issues in the sector. Crowdfunding platforms are much more accessible and open to the general public than other funding options, and hence can potentially democratise the culture space. In a country so rich in its cultural and #historical diversity, with much knowledge and resources to be still tapped into in its regional and localised areas, it is important to explore and utilise the full potential of a platform such as this.
Internationally, cultural institutions, #artists, and museums have engaged with crowdfunding platforms to generate new kinds of support for their activities. Bit-giving, being a one of its kind crowdfunding platform in India, together with Sahapedia and KNMA, will explore the potential of this platform for activities in the culture sector in this #baithak.
