Santhosh Kumar Hegde's rendezvous with music dates a long way back. A movie buff in his younger years, Santhosh eagerly awaited the releases of the latest Hindi movies. The numerous songs, which were a cue for break/interval for the audience, served as an offset for his musical journey as he sat back to learn the lyrics to each one of the tracks. He is a self-taught musician, and credits his learning to All India Radio and Films. The performing artist in him yearned to connect with audiences through his music, and the opportunity presented itself in 1966 when he performed with a group of local musicians in a stage show, Young Talents Night, at the Don Bosco Hall in Mangalore. Completing over 10,000 performances, including 1,002 stage shows across the country, Santhosh Hegde showcases his prowess in the fluidity with which he flows between genres and his versatile repertoire, ranging from Ghulam Ali to Arijit Singh.

In his concert, Dastaan, he presents a loving memoire to commemorate the birth anniversary of Suman Hegde, his partner and wife, who served as a source of support for nearly four decades. Dastaan is a celebration of her life and tribute to the love and inspiration she brings to her loved ones.

A filmmaker by profession, Mithila Hegde has accompanied her father on stage since the age of 9, and would be performing with him for this event. The other artists for the evening include Ahmed Ali, a renowned Hindustani/Sufi artiste from Kolkata belonging to the Gwalior Gharana, and a student of renowned Hindustani vocalist, Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan; and Priya Yadav, a popular singer based in Bangalore, known for her versatility. The band performing alongside the artists is a 15-member orchestra from Kerala, who have played for the likes of Yesudas, S. Janaki, and Unnikrishnan, to name a few.

The concert will be hosted by the multi-faceted Vasanthi Hariprakash, the much loved voice of the Breakfast Show on RadioCity 91.1FM.
