Pandora’s Box

Pandora’s Box is an original piece based on the story of Pandora from Greek Mythology. Zeus was furious as Prometheus, gave the world, the blessing of ‘fire’ without his consent. To teach him a lesson, Zeus created Pandora; also considered by some to be the first woman and gave her a mysterious box. He had instructed her not to open the box but curiosity got the better of her and she unknowingly unleashed all the evil into the world. Luckily for all of humanity; ‘hope’ was the last thing hiding in the box; a force much stronger than any other evil.

Using ele...ments of Butoh, Horton Technique, Improvisation and Contemporary Dance Swapnil’s Performing Arts & Contemporary Ensemble(SPACE) will present a piece that is adapted to the site where it is performed. The choreography will include solos, duets as well as parts performed as a group. The piece is the first performance in a series of short performances that will be performed by SPACE eventually leading to their full length production at Avayava - Contemporary Dance Festival 2015.
